To quote SQ, "我看了很难过很难过."

I'm tired of this, tired of your self centered-ness. time and time again, I wonder how such a person can exist. Its tiring dealing with this, tiring to pretend that I don't care. & when this becomes repetitive, it gets easier to simply not care. & thats not a good thing.
The more you interact and know about a person is not necessary a good thing. It is, in the sense that you understand the person and just accept him or she for who they are, and not judge them, just being there for each other through thick and thin. or in the sense of knowing certain things that makes you inevitably judge them and not accept it, but with the full knowledge on both sides that no matter what, you are and will be still friends, because the friendship is worth so much more. But this, is driving me nuts. Tell me, whats the definition of a friend?

the great beijing amazing race!
The great beijing amazing race!
Morning began with CXY being suspiciously dressed in a totally clubbing cum dating outfit: black shirt with white tie & jacket. & so the game begins! SQ was tasked to accompany and be my personal assistant, (and to take blackmail worthy videos of me, and to help the game progress xP) clue #1 is a photograph of XY & SQ's typography assignment, leading me to find their typo classroom. station 1 was hence in school, went to 一教, animation building, before finding ZY @ the advertising building. =X Did a "Sorry Sorry" dance thingie in front of 孔子 to get the hint from XY & SQ. Mission was to play charades with people and get them to guess 新加坡 and 毛泽东。 Took a while, and lots of hinting, but mission accomplished. Clue #2 led me to 天安门东, where I'm susposed to find Tiffy & Cheryl. But there's way too many people around, even SQ couldn't find them. After walking up and down the 广场, it started to rain. :( The wind was really heavy as well, and almost blew the umbrella away. Headed for shelter back at the station and still couldn't find them after trying all the different exits of the station. In the end, they appeared, and mission #2 was to do 5 starjumps & the great Singapore workout in front of Mao. Raining, so mission was completed in the station itself. Clue #3 was a word search puzzle. There were many questions, such as "Why is the toilet ventilator always on?" (answer is SHIT), "Finish ten _____ everyday" (answer is paper, printed on the cover of our sketchbook), "She is sweet. hahahaha~" (answer is CANDY, known for her unique laughter), "something xinyi cannot live without?" (answer is SPRAY) etc. & after finding the answers in the word puzzle, the shape of the answers formed the word XIDAN, which is the next location. After hints from dear assistant SQ, figured out that the place to go to is XIDAN BOOKSHOP, where I'm susposed to find candy! Seven stories to hunt! and SQ was dancing to "Nobody Nobody" as a clue. :D haha, finally found candy when she called SQ, and I heard candy's distinct voice. Mission was to find a shopkeeper and ask for his/her number. >.< I asked for "a number" & he almost gave "his number". -.- Got the bookshop number in the end (i think), hence mission accomplished! The 4th station was cancelled due to time constraints, :( but I love the clue!! It was a pair of chopsticks, painted red and black and the tips, and with chinese words written on them. Its susposed to be incense sticks, and location #4 was 雍和宫 lama temple, where the mission was to play scissors-paper-stone with angmohs. =X So I was given the last clue to the final station, which was a very simple "Find her THERE" clue. First thing that came to mind was the 那里place @ Sanlitun, and then the THERE sign XY & I once saw at 南锣鼓巷。 Eliminated Sanlitun & headed to 鼓楼大街。 Ended up at a place called 16mm bar! Its an awesome place, totally love the ambiance there. Mission was to finish a jug of beer in a minute, (what else to expect from station master CXY right. HAHAHA) which I failed. =X beer is gasy! Forfeit was to play a song, (twinkle twinkle little star) on Tiffy's Ukelele for servers at the bar. Awesome dinner at awesome place with awesome friends and awesome company. Although somethings didn't go according to plan, (mysterious food poisoning & the rain etc) so much effort is put into everything. Much sincerity & love felt, I can seriously ask for nothing more. Thanks guys, for everything & the most memorable 21st! :D

strangers in beijing
2 random occasions talking to strangers.
1. 东单公园 @ 17/04/2010 about everything in Singapore, and everything in Beijing, comparing the two cities, homosexualities & pickups (because the park is known to be, and is, a gay-pickup park) treated a drink. and I realized, that this is a scary stalker person. 2. 戏剧村 @ 23/04/2010 about the place, about the theatre industry, about how the drama village functions, about language, about culture, about job interviews and high standards. treated a drama show. and I realized, this is a scary intriguing person. ~ Conclusion: People are always not what they seemed to be. The first guy seemed like a normal guy, but turned out to be a stalker.(as from his smses & calls) The second guy told me he's just an odd-jobs worker, turned out that he's some high ranked person of the place. (as from the way the other people treat him, ability to let people watch shows without tickets, & interactions with the guests). Of course I should have realized who they actually are earlier, being in the park itself should be suspicious, "conducting" the job interview and turning the interviewee away so easily should be suspicious. PS: & thats the first stage performance I watched in China, and it's good. The actors are really really good. Better than all the chinese productions I've watched in Singapore.

表演班
狗的友谊 is finally over. Finally presented today. Teacher's feedback was language-pronunciation etc (expected.) & I was more 演, rather than 朗诵 (which is what its supposed to be.) Tiffy improved so much, am so amazed & proud of her. ^^
Today is also 全国哀吊日 to 默哀一分钟 for the earthquake victims. Its so sad that so many innocent lives are taken away just like that. 人在世界的渺小~ After 寓言故事's completion, its time for 以爱为主题的现代诗。Search for, research, analyse, memorize, by next Wednesday. Also supposed to practice 水袖 &刀 everyday. Roar all the work and "stress" comes from 表演班。

21st loves
Spent the first moments of being 21 with a magical balcony, colourful balloons, glowing lightsticks, pink party hat, pink and silver thingie around thy neck, ribbon spray all over, boyfriend bear named blue, striptease-pole dancing entertainment, two cameras snapping and videoing, almost melted candles on a delicious chocolate-strawberry-peach cake, 21 seconds of vodka shots, gaga music, alcoholic effect kicking in, presents & letter, game of truth or dare, mang ren massage, puking all over, collapsing at the toilet bowl, felt hair washed with warm water and face wiped by towel, being covered with jacket & blankets, being too heavy to be carried, being carried out with absolute trust.
I'm conscious, of all these at least. Not sure what happened when I wasn't conscious. Point is, I'm really really touched by all the effort put in, it was a wonderful surprise. They said I lived the last few hours of being 20 a lie. Getting me out of the way, ZY having two dinners, T having to go back early, keeping guard at the balcony, the Mr Potato joke, trying not to fall asleep although everyone were tired, CXY needing help to bring in WET laundry.. I've never drank so much in one go without thought, never puked like this, never been in the "drunkard" state where my body is out of control, never felt so defenseless. But never so touched, so loved, and so speechless either. And..another surprise awaits me this morning. Overwhelmed much. SUQINZHIYUANXINYICANDYTIFFANY hearts deep deeeeeeep.<3

电视剧原理
电视剧原理 class today talked a little about feminism, and mentioned Thelma & Louise. Screened parts of a few films, including Citizen Kane. & last week was Run Lola Run, and the previous week's Rashomon.
sounds dumb, but I find it exciting to hear familiar titles, and CS memories start flooding back.

pylades
Pylades is the guy who accompanies Orestes to kill Clytemnestra to revenge for Agamemnon.
I can't believe the 2 names, Orestes & Pylades didn't ring any bells, until I read wiki. It was just two years ago since studying greek theatre and doing the "Agamemnon" text for two whole years in JC! =X <3greek/drama/lit and game theory. :(

T
I was taking photos of the sunset on the bridge, when hello panda came in front of my camera and scared me. Hello panda is this guy we met and talked to from the CR class during the 2D1N. He's born in 1992, (xiaodidi! hahaha) and wore a hello panda cap on the trip..I do not know his name, hence nicknamed hello panda/1992 guy.
Speaking of nicknames, ZY, Tiffy & I came up with lots of nicknames/codenames for the guys in drama class too. GBA, GBB, PB, SBA, SBB, NSF..the "B"s stand for "boy", go figure the rest. xP Anyway the point is, the people here puts the way we treat the Ts in Singapore to shame. The extremely warm reception from the Nepal restaurant leaves me in awe, every single person: the boss, the auntie, the helpers, the chefs..like where can you find such "service" in Singapore? Tiffy even want to come to China just to work for them after graduating, the job satisfaction is really really high. Besides the creepy guy in photojourn who said we smelled different from China girls..there were no weird/mean people around. There would always be nice people talking to us, asking about Singapore, helping us etc. Zijue who was always so happy to see us, and so eager to update us about the recent school activities available, Jiaohui who look out for us, making sure that we know what's going on, the guys who invited us to move over to sit with them during breakfast, and even the drama SENIOR class people whom we don't have classes with, say Hi to us. Anyway point is, we should be nicer to them. -guilt guilt- We either totally ignore their existence, or bitch/complain about them, and their mere presence is our annoyance. Its a general thing, its a social thing, its quite sad, but its quite true.

five
1.
1. Great wall. Went on our first school excursion to the great wall with SQ and 3 buses full of international students. Koreans, Japanese, Thais, Malaysians, Turks, Americans. The 2 of us were the only Singaporeans around. Went to visit a museum with tombs and olden artifacts, before a 18?-course lunch, looking at the tourist trapping shops and then making our way to climb the wall. SQ and I decided to claim to climbed 1/3 of the entire wall, but in actual fact we have no idea how long the whole wall is susposed to be. The fact that we took more photos than strides, and more resting on the steps than moving up them, was another point to consider. Even the many old folks around who were climbing the great wall seemed to have so much more motivation. Bus journey to the Great Wall was 0.0 with the tourguide speaking in incomprehensible English trying to give us a geography lesson, only to be laughed at and told by students in Chinese that they couldnt understand his English. Bus journey back to school was horrible as there was a big traffic jam. Butts, legs, back, neck cramps that were worse than climbing the wall itself were shared sentiments. 2.
1. Visited the Lama Temple one day when I wanted to go somewhere that closes early, (as it was early that day) and the lama temple was the only place I know that closes early and Im sure I know how to get to. (because the train station is called Lama Temple) It requires an admission ticket to get in, and makes public announcements in two languages, aka its another tourist trap. -.- Anyway it being a tourist trap has its pros: Photographs of the gods are not allowed (even though some angmohs still do take photographs), but photography on the grounds are allowed. Because so many angmohs and photographers are taking photos, it doesnt feel so weird or disrespectful to take photos of all the typical scenes, ie the lighting of joss sticks, the bowing down to the gods.
After a while I figure that since Im here, why not? So spent more money buying a packet of joss sticks. There were 3 bundles inside. Used one bundle for the alter at the entrance, and drew 3 sticks each time for all the other many alters after that. In the process staining my black camera, black jacket and hands with the yellowish-golden flakes that dropped off from the joss sticks. Its pretty amusing to watch the foreigners at it. Most of them do not know how to use the joss sticks, and it was interesting how they came up with their own ways to use them. Some literally throw all the joss sticks in from a distance, some plunge the bundle in flame-first. 0.0 They had lots of fun throwing coins at this structure that apparently to many people is a wishing well thing, but has a sign that says do not throw coins. >.<> 3.
1. Xiaozhu autograph session! It was at a huge CD shop in a mall in WangFuJing. (think HMV-ish) Didnt intended to go in the first place, was deliberating between exploring a random place, the autograph session, or back to school for a wushu fighting elective class. Made up my mind to go and see the crowds, and leave if the crowds are too crazy and I cant see xiaozhu at all. Met SQ & Cheryl there, and got convinced into buying his Rashomon album (yes they release it in China damn late) and queuing up like the rest of the crazy fans there. The procedure was quite orderly, for what, I have no idea. The autograph session is split into 6 zones. The zone 1 people gets to go first etc. and guess what I was in zone 6 due to the last-minute buying of the album. & I was split up from SQ & Cheryl who were in zone 3. L
The event was stated to start at 6, but people were already queuing up at 4pm. I didnt wanted to queue up, so went to explore the rest of the mall instead (finding relatively cheap Sony DSLRs), before joining the back of the queue at almost 6. The queue stretched all the way through the toilet corridors, down many flights of stairs into the carpark, and then surrounding the perimeters of the whole carpark. -.- Was seriously bored in the carpark, that I took out the lyrics sheet from the album and start reading them, that I observe the people around me (most were girls, there were guys too, most are young, about 3 years younger than me, some even came with their mums), that I played all the games in my phone. Felt so stupid, but legs couldnt bring themselves to leave. After an hour or so the queue finally started to move, and then it slowly moved into the record store, where shelves are all moves away to make space for all the people. The queue inside was surprisingly civilized. There was no clear barriers that indicate the queue, but nobody cut queue even though it was so easy to. Entertained myself by taking tons of photos of the crowds, and also by the extremely lame host. For example, there was a point of time when LuoZhiXiang wanted to go to the toilet, and everybody went crazy thinking that he might just leave. The host went 虽然你们都是小猪的老婆, 可是上厕所还是他一个人上比较好。 He was cute, soooo cute, upclose. Cuter than on print and on screen. Its seriously his charm that swept so many girls away haha. Told him I was from Singapore, and he looked up at me. Hahahah. Sound so crazy now. Anyways, shook his hand and he signed the album, but there wasnt any impression of it because I was so stunned by his in your face faces cuteness, and the whole thing was over in split seconds. Went to find Cheryl & SQ at the carpark after that. Was super confused when they told me to come to the carpark, before realizing that there were many other girls in the carpark, trying to find Xiaozhus car. Fanclub people and a few groups of other followers. Pretty exciting to follow them around the carpark, and being amused at their screams at every white big car they come across. Begging the security guards and hotel people were in the game too. Gave up after a while, had dinner at Ajisen Ramen (which is so much cheaper than Singapores), before heading home, still high from the event. 4. April Fools! At least it wasnt boring. Was suggesting stupid tricks and jokes to CXY (who is about to sleep) when victim #1 Joy came online. I started off typing an absurdly ridiculous sentence on skype, which she believed! The story went more and more elaborate, made-up as it goes along, and Joy insists on skyping us. Xinyi (haha cannot sleep now) & I couldnt stop laughing. The joke went on for almost an hour before we convinced her to call Tiffy, and all 5 of us were on Tiffys end yelling Happy April Fools to her. Joy is awesome. XD Another joke was Tiffy knocking on ZYs door in the middle of the night, which failed because he was too deep asleep, but the rest of us heard it. Haha damn stupid. The next morning, we were pwned by the teacher in Media Management class, because the teacher did not even turn up at all! -.- While waiting for the teacher to show up, (while the rest of the class left one by one), ZY was doing his punishment writing for drama class. Kidnapped a piece of his writings, he couldnt find it anywhere and was a little irritated to find out that its Aprils Fool, oops. Joke fail. Pwned by myself after that, for boarding the wrong train on the way back to school, and not being able to find the classroom, because apparently the teacher was screening a video and the lights were off. -.- And I guess, that was Aprils 1ST. 5.
1. 2D1N class outing Ponned Writing for TV/Film class on Friday to joined Tiffys CR classmates on their class qingming break trip, time flew by on the bus ride there, the class was so united, playing games like Truth or Dare, and sing-a-long sessions. Our first stop was this beautiful scenic area, with beautiful mountains and lakes. Then it was to the farm residential area, where we stayed at for the night. It is so cosy, with a courtyard and bedrooms surrounding it. The beds are so soft, there were pretty floral prints everywhere and a thick comfortable blanket. Its like going to a chalet, groups of people started playing cardgames, mahjong tables are set up, some singing and dancing away in the KTV room, and others merely nua-ing and watching television in their rooms. After a while, Tiffy, SQ & I went to explore and climb the nearby mountains. Feels great to be standing at the top of the world~ sings- Dinner was home-cooked food by the farmers, which is pretty much zi-char with 30 people surrounding 2 tables. There wasnt enough space, so eventually we ate standing up and moved around the table to get the dishes we want. After dinner was campfire night! It was awesome sitting around the campfire in the cold, eating bbq meat skewers and chicken wings, and drinking beer. The classs really great fun and united, playing orientation-like games and games that involved the whole class, like doing this thing where you stand in a circle and hold on to the person in front of you and step left-left-right-right-front-front-back before breaking up to from groups, and those that doesnt have a group gets forfeited. They also played the game where everyone held hands, gets tangled up and tries to untangle themselves, and we taught them games like the em-chi-chi-tuki-tuki-tongka game. More KTV singing/cards-mahjong-playing after that. Conclude that they listen to the same music as we Singaporeans do, Jay Chou, Amei, Liang Jing Ru, Chen Yi Xun, Stef Sun, Wang Fei..they even sang English songs like My heart will go on and songs by the Carpenters.
Next morning, we visited the Canyons, which is quite touristy again, with signboards everywhere and attractions such as walking on a tightrope, flying fox, and boat rides. (reminds me of com252 part about tourism and authenticity.) Lunch was massive sharing of junk food by everyone, everybody just go around offering food to everybody. Visited the Karst Cave after that, a place where they show all the preserving of rocks structures that forms pictures and tell a story through natural processes. Another touristy place, but the structures are really amazing. (: Then it was time to go home, and to leave this bunch of fun-loving class, whom we might never meet again. L ohwells, the trip was an amazing experience with awesome people!
