13yearsold- 1st theatre experience when I accidentally got into Theatre Club Nanyang. 1st production, 'FAMILY'. Fell in LOVE with theatre. Seed of passion planted. 16yearsold- 4 years of the BEST theatre experience ever, under Mr Gary Tang. JOYLUCK, ALICE, MULAN, SUNLIGHT. deconstructed, devised, physical, experimental, local. Did literally all aspects of theatre. many challenges and obstacles in MULAN. Learned lots more abt acting in SUNLIGHT. 18april. SYFgold. Couldnt get over theatre for months after our final production. Couldnt stop thinking about theatre every free moment I have, everytime a commercial break comes. Even when leaving nanyang, the one thing in my mind is theatre. This profound attachment is DEEP. Im sure in my whole life, pastpresentfuture, these TCN days are still one of the BEST days ever. 17yearsold- Managed to get into DEP (tho I didnt think I deserved to) and ACSian Theatre. crewed for THE TEMPEST.(March) Met my first love. young, innocent and sweet.(: Couldnt get over TEMPEST again, and find myself missing it for a long long time again. Then there was Theasthai,(April) first DEP exam-piece. Love it, first time performing as a class. Much emotions involved as well. It is after Theasthai that I learned to let go, I came to understand that there is no point hanging on, because there are just so much opportunity to work on productions and smaller projects in ACSian theatre. Too busy to slow down or remain in the past. Too much to handle. Acted in INVENTIO(July) and B&B(Nov), no more of the reminisces, more of just having fun and looking forward to the next fun production. 18yearsold-J2. More busy with Alevels coming up. NIGHTOFLAUGHTER,(feb) was just about having fun and getting to know the juniors. Final production, WESTSIDESTORY(april) personally has been the lowest point in my JC life. I numbed myself void of emotions. Or try to. CULMINATIO & DEP PRELIMS/ALEVELS,(may/july) One of the best things. Im doing what I love for Individual Skill, and my Damask Group is simply totally awesome. Because Drama Alevels are so early, it doesnt feel final because we will all still be together for 4 more months? hahah and with the other subjects to study for, I seem to have gotten past this SERIOUS post-production/examperformance syndrome of mine. Graduated, Year2008: Sure I have many different experiences of theatre in the past 6 years. A love-hate relationship, 90% love though. Quited admin job in early March and decided to do something I WANT to do and is passionate about. heck about the money. TADAA~ ended up volunteering for Singapore Art Festival and acting in THE MINISTER WIFE?!? Singapore Art Festival draws to a close. I never regret joining it, because I made so many new friends, all passionate in the arts. (and got to watch so many free performances. heehee) Right now, all that is left in my life now is THE MINSTER WIFE?!? a THEATRE production. Intensive rehearsals everyday. I know attachment will just grow and grow. And I dread production days. For after that..everyone will go their seperate ways. I love this group of funloving people, of different backgrounds-races-ages- that come together for their love of theatre. I love the friendship forged. (: I dont want this to end. Im already all surged up with emotions just thinking about the last production day. It would be a miracle if tears dont drop. I want the show to be good. to be smashing. to blow everyone away. I know I havent been inviting much people, but if you are reading this post until now, (touched or not by my personal theatre history) please do come. Support QuietRiot in their first production ever.
Dad being unreasonable again..just scolded me for a few drops of water that dripped on the floor, (because I just washed my hair?) and just for that he goes on and on about how I want to go stay hall..in a SARCASTIC voice that implies dissatisfaction with hostels? like..wtf? yupp..I officially applied for hall and also CS FOC! From my CS seniors' info,
finished uploading japan photos on photobucket..now uploading the nicer ones on facebook..after that then i shall blog in the photoblog. haha. this is such a rantly entry.. yawns.
Photos is taking forever to upload... I have fallen asleep on every single bus ride that I took since I got back.. The feeling is coming back again... This time of the night... But times like this. When there is no distractions. My mind starts to wander. Becoming more philosophical and more conscious. I become conscious of space. Conscious of every sound. The computer churning. The keyboard tapping. The air buzzing. Even conscious of my breathing and heart pounding. The heavyness. The funny feeling in my tummy. Loneliness? Fear? Just staring at the computer screen. Blank. And I blog.
Rehearsals end around 10pm. 171, which usually takes forever to come, came within 2 minutes last night. I FELL ASLEEP IMMEDIATELY AND WOKE UP AT YISHUN! sianz. and because my ezlink card is negative and I have ZERO money on me, I couldnt take the bus back! Called my dad, he agreed to come pick me up although he was grouchy. =( Fell asleep on the car again, reached home, plonk onto the bed and fell asleep again. :X "Well..Maybe..You is thinking. I is looking. Like one of the girls. From. America's. Next. Top. Model." -THE MINISTER WIFE ?!
Miss the great company. hahah meet up for pressies! :D okay, going for the superoverduedandpostponedmanytimes subway meal with minn! Shall try to update after rehearsals tonight!
Just came from rehearsals and I gotta say..Im still as emotionally unstable and sensitive as ever. Ohwells. Cant believe I did what I did, in a 'male dominated surrounding' somemore. How embarassing. :X So much with learning to control emotions :X Ayes, anyway..thanks really, although no kinder bruno. :P
And here I am blogging away because the past few days have been rather eventful, although many plans are abandoned, new ones are formed. And if I dont blog, chances that I'll remember and blog about them after I come back is zero. haha TUESDAY watched Kungfu Panda with Huimin, Christ and Christ's gf at Causeway Point! Chris and the girl like so close lahs~ then they keep talking together ignoring me and huimin -.- Kungfu Panda not as nice as Indiana Jones. haha dont know la..reminds me a bit of Mulan. haha I want to watch Narnia and Sex in the City..=( By the time I come back think no more liao lor. =( Met Dorothy for a longjohn dinner and shopping at bugis! We both bought quite a lot of things! like..err 3 tops each. hehh but its bugis so they cost..30bucks! :D and we plan to set up our tshirt design company! hahaha WEDNESDAY Study with Seewah @ Marina's starbucks! Planned to catch a movie first but she watched Narnia and Sex in the City already and I watched Indiana Jones and we both watched Kungfu Panda. -.- This woman ah~ say go toilet..one hour then come back..tell me she hasn't go yet, cos there was too many DISTRACTIONS along the way to toilet. -.- LOL. okay..haha had the new dark chocolate chip mocha, which is like a richer version of Java Chip. Had dinner at Thai Express where I almost died with the spicyness of the food. Should have followed Seewah and try the recommanded pineapple rice! Had a new nihongo sinseh as the old one went back to Japan. haha but that was our last lesson already! Im considering whether to continue with the more intermediate Jap classes, as the first two lessons would clash with rehearsals and Mike would prob kill me. :X LOL THURSDAY: RHINOCEROS. Wandered around Raffles City and came across this shop selling art paintings! Its super cool lahs, love the ones in bright bright cheery colours, the fishes painting that is held together by the streak of red, the series of paintings that are so similiar yet the mood and what the artist wants to protray is totally different. oh and the artist that says he wishes to "live by the brush and die by the brush." LOL. (eh yakz I seriously think you should take art la! saw your drawings in the festmaze guestbk, its super fantastic la!) Spent a much longer time looking at paintings than expected. hahah headed to the Esplanade Theatre Studios for Rhinoceros! (: It was a blackbox theatre, with quite a small sitting capacity. But the show is really quite good! Not boring at all unlike the previous absurdist plays I've watched. It is in fact, very absurdist. 'Rhinoceros by French-Romanian playwright Eugene lonesco is an absurdist play written in 1959 about the illogical realities of modern communal life. This intriguing play was written as a response to the totalitarian regimes of Nazism, Fascism and Communicism, providing an incisive commentary on group behavior, peer pressure, and the price we pay to belong, the power of membership. " Acting wise, Im really impressed by the actress Karen who played the physical morphing into a rhinoceros. The process is naturalistic and really well done, although naturalism in absurdism doesn't really make sense. Kudos to the lead actor too! He has quite a lot of monologues and long dialogues but managed to keep the audience's attention throughout, and I think his acting is really powerful too! The emsemble cast in this play that represents the different stratas of society-public, work, personal, love, did a great job too. Their body language and working with their personal props are quite good! Perhaps the thing I found disatisfactory is the post-dialogue session. Zizi Azah did a good job as a young director, but I feel that she couldnt answer many of the questions posed to her. "Why do you do this?...Becuase well I just thought it would be fun." just doesnt do it....haha. Well there was the viva days for drama exams when literally everything we do has to have a major significance and contribution to the piece. hahah but then again, we HAVE to impress the examiners. (: I miss those days~ Chin, Rose, Krit, Vicky~Damask!(: FRIDAY Went JP shopping for FatherDay gift with Yeumei, ended up spending money on: pizzahut for lunch, icecream for dessert and personalised stickers for new schoolbooks. haha bought a cake for dad in the end. :X Went to change currency after that and bloodyhell got cheated. -.- Thought the rate higher is better, ended up lower is better. T_T stupid moneychangers. =((
okays~ I've blogged for almost 2 hours. Woah this is such a long entry~Shall log off now, meanwhile take care everybody and dont miss me too much! :D
(Just realised Im blogging in super bad English! hahah if this is like 'an article of my trip' for journalism in CS or something..I confirm fail and die liao. hahah. Still dont understand how I can get into CS with my standard of written and spoken English..:X)

These are the BEST arts on the move that I have watched, not to say the others are not good, but these are really really high quality performances that people would easily buy tickets to watch. Its really worth it and its free at Clark Quay's center fountain area at 8 and 9pm until this Sunday, 8June. I promise its really worth it, do catch it if you can! :D
Saw so many volunteers I recognised there! hahah Singapore art circle is just so small~ always seeing the same people around. (: I love the film that opens the show. It is really shot artistically and draws attention to details, along with the quietly overwhelming mood it creates. Dances are fantastic, they tell the story of Romeo and Juliet. Emotions, passions all can be seen and felt in every move of the dancers. Lighting and the set also produces a powerful impact. It was an hour show, with only 6 dancers (1 Juliet and 5Romeos), meaning these dancers practically dance throughout without resting! Its by the same company (Slovene National Theatre Maribor) as The Architecture of Silence, Radio and Juliet is on a much smaller scale, the Radiohead hits are of little significance compared to the powerful music the live band and singers of The Architecture of Silence create. However, also because of this, the audience are able to focus attention to the story the dancers are telling through their very explicit moves.
