Goodbyes. And here I am.
Pack house.
眼睁睁看一个空荡荡的房子变成我们的 等待下一个租主
Wonder if anyone knows who they are. haha.
Two years ago. Tomorrow is wkwscifoc2010. Doesn't feel right not being there, but ohwells 也许已经不再属于我们的世界了。 Hope the Weekimwee tradition continues, to be a awesomely smashing FOC! ~
8 bus rides, 4 train rides, 2 major detours to Ba Jiao Amusement Park & Botanical Gardens, and 6 hours later, I finally reached xiangshan! It was almost 5 and the cable car stopped operations, hence I took a tout van up the mountain. It was freaking scary!! Roller coaster with more jerks and turns and no safety precautions on the narrow mountain route. I even thought of what will happen if I die there. =.= But yes, I'm alive and kicking. 3 more days till the girls are back & 5 more days to taiwan!
I can't believe it. Life changing decisions, that affect our whole lives. Choices. School & Work. The environment, the people and connections, the friends for life, the personal growth and lifestyle. The whole package. Every small thing will somehow affect these constitutions of life. Damn I'm still clueless about internship.
Its nothing like RUN LOLA RUN (which we watched for 电视剧原理 class), maybe except that they both touch on feminism theme. GO LALA GO deals with office politics, and love in the office. The plot is rather cliche, but is quite touching as well in some parts. Simple and poignant, with some artistic shots, I like it. (:
with photog & books. went out without memory card in camera bought books from 4 different places in the past 3 days.
I write like James Joyce I Write Like by Mmoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!
& now that the crazy weather in Beijing is at 25 degrees average, there is a rather high possibility I'll scrape all my ambitious travel plans, because Beijing is cooler than those places now. & I can't stand the heat.
First time was with CXY before the rest arrived. It was winter, most of the galleries were closed. We went late, and were lost inside the old factory when the skies are dark. It was scary. Fell in love with the place the first time though, its an unique combination of old factories and artsy feel. & I remember Xinyi saying that its a good place to people watch. Artsy people tends to be goodlooking, and have style. haha. Second time with Xinyi, Suqin & Tiffy. Saw more things, spent more time in shops. Camwhored. Today, I went alone. Entered lots of galleries that I didn't the previous times. Art. Painting, Sculptures, installations, Short films. Wandered into ulu areas, and the best art pieces are those that are hidden and requires climbing of stairs. Chilled at a cafe with a random book I picked out from their library collection-Tuesday with Morris. I love the place still, wish Singapore has a 798 too. I'll definitely frequent it.
Ironic that I don't miss home at all,
Amidst the tons of yellow cards, falling down, funny chinese commentator and fb/twitter updates, and Casillas who caught my attention with his awesome saves, it was actually a rather boring match. And this ends the 2010 World Cup, at 6am. From the early days of getting used to chinese commentators on cctv5, to its final match along with beer and chips, to all the analysis and replays forever shown on china tv. Always feeling so happy for the winning team and so sad for the other. And this is it~
Zhongyangdajie, finally
Spent the third morning walking down 果戈理大街 (for the third time -.-) in search for an usable ATM/bank. I finally know how it feels to be stuck in a place with no cash, owing hotel bills and with no return ticket. Agriculture bank saved my life, and I took a bus to the railway station, intending to buy a return ticket back that night. Queued up to the news of only standing tickets left for the next few days back to Beijing. Hard seat for 15 hours was a no-no for me, least to say a standing ticket. Half decided to fly back instead, but didn't know where to buy flight tickets, and didn't want to spend more money too. Queued up again, to ask about Tianjin, and there was no tickets left too. At the last minute a hard bed ticket(which was what I was looking for) got refunded and so I happy bought it, thinking that it was for 1145 at night, while it was actually for a train leaving at 1145am, in 20 minutes at that point of time. Was planning to visit the Saint Sophia Church and some Unit 731 Museum that day (which was about everything else in Harbin anyway) but thought screw it man~ Had enough of losing money due to transport screw-ups. Cabbed back to the hotel, packed, checked out, and cabbed back to the train station all in 10 minutes, and made it..to a 15 hours hard bed journey out of Harbin to TianJin.. Reached TianJin at 5+ this morning, and took the earliest 30minutes train back to Beijing at 6+. Spent the hour or so taking photos of the nearby place, which ironically, is the place where my camera died the last time I went TianJin. Can't believe I technically only spent 2 days in Harbin, excluding the first night and forth morning. Ohwells, at least the temperature in Beijing improved! (:
Took hard sleeper top deck for this 12 hours trip, a little disappointed as compared to the soft sleeper. It was freaking small (usually I need lots of space on the bed), it has no powerpoint, no teevee, no lights, no doors, and you can't even sit up without banging your head on the ceiling. I slept for 5 hours, read for an hour, and slept for another 5 hours. So it turned out to be not bad after all. (: (insert: 电视播着海派甜心,达浪三年后在宝珠面前出现的那一幕。 我一年前看过这部戏,最近又听了祉元说一大堆反此剧的话,但只看了短短五分钟的戏,就被感动哭了。) Visited the Siberia Tiger Reserve today. I think the concept of reversing roles of animals and humans is cool~ Sat in this mini bus with metal grills and went around the tiger park. The tigers look damn poor thing though, like they're hungry. Can see it in their eyes. Visitors can buy food to feed them, ie a slab of beef for 10yuan, chicken for 40yuan, duck for 100yuan etc. At first nobody wants to buy anything, and the tourguide was tempting the tiger with the slab of beef. The tiger couldn't reach it and was desperately trying to lick it. SO POOR THING LA. & later when the bus shared the cost to buy a chicken, we could see the fear in the chicken's face too. cruel~~ Cab driver took me to 极地海洋世界 after that. Wasn't planning to visit it at all but no regrets man! The exhibitions are quite limited but the shows are the best I have even seen. Went in for the seals performance first, the hosts' chemistry is really awesome too, and the seals are so clever! They totally have a mind of themselves, the hosts improvised quite a bit, found that out the second time I watched the show. The giant white shark show is amazing enough for me to want to buy a DVD of the show! They had a love story, with the My Heart Will Go on music, and the relationship between them is so super sweet. Totally reminded me of the movie we watched, how humans and sea animals form such deep bonds. Penguin show was good too, the penguins are so fast and cute~~ It was raining, and camera battery died, so headed back to the hotel, to get umbrella and to recharge battery. Intended to go zhongyangdajie but couldn't get a cab, and ended up walking to guogelidajie again. The street is freaking long! About 2 hours walk right to the end. Explored a children's park, an indian street, a Xijie-like street etc along the way. I'm missing Beijing already, and haven't even left for real yet. So going to die back in Singapore sigh.
Im kind of looking forward to enjoying this 12 hours ride. After travelling for 8 days, its a refreshing change to just lie down and do nothing. To think, to reflect, to blog, to look through the photos of the past 8 days. It would be nice too to continue travelling, just from city to city. Transport and accommodation are convenient. Travelling can be spontaneous, the way I like it. As much as most people would disagree with me, ie Tiffy & CXY. Im so glad the people at home are going back to Singapore with me. Missed them before I even left for this trip. Kept getting reminded of them too, like when I see geek stuff (ZY) & cute shirts (XY). Only 20 days until we leave China for real. 20 days to prepare to leave the place we call home in Beijing, and to see the rest of China I want to see. 1030pm: The train tv is showing Finding Nemo dubbed in Chinese! Nemo is calling 老爸老爸!0.0 ttm. Toy story in English! & a Chinese touching gangster film. Up, slumdog millionaire. Finished watching and the ending theme song is a bollywood dance to JAE-HO! So familiar, its our FOC mass dance! Feels like ages ago man. PENNE omg. 7.09am: Morning experience in the train, had a good 6 hours uninterrupted sleep. Saw how china people wash up and brush their teeth, how they used mineral water instead of tap water, cleaned their nose, especially the older folks.
